What is Brawl Stars?

Controlling your Brawler from your mobile device is much like controlling a video game character through a console: with a joystick-type controller on both sides of the screen. The joystick on the left side controls the direction you want your Brawler to go in; the right side controls its attacking capabilities.

There are eight main game modes in Brawl Stars and each one has its own main objective. A new brawl begins when you navigate to the Brawl tab and choose the game mode you prefer. Game Modes

Listed below are the different game modes to choose from in Brawl Stars and a brief explanation of its objectives.

• Knockout: This is a team game, where each team has 3 players each. Each Knockout brawl is a best of 3 match where the main objective is to eliminate all team players of the opposing team. Killed players don’t respond and the match continues without them until one team loses all their players, in which case the match ends and the next one begins.
• Showdown: Showdown is the only solo mode on Brawl Stars with 10 individual players, and the goal is to be the last player standing. Throughout the match, players can obtain Power Cubes from other defeated Brawlers in order to restore their health. The longer a player survives, the more prizes they receive in-game.
• Duo Showdown: A combination of Showdown and Knockout, where teams of two must eliminate the other 4 teams and be the last ones standing! If one member is killed, they respawn after 15 second but only if the remaining member is also still alive. If both team members are eliminated before one can respawn, it’s game over for them.
• Gem Grab: Gem Grab is initially set up like Knockout, with two teams of 3 players each. A gem mine is positioned at the center of the arena and every 7 seconds, it produces purple gems. The objective is for one team to collect 10 gems and maintain that number for 15 seconds, but here’s the catch: players drop all their gems if they are defeated, so if a player from a team with 10 gems already is defeated during the countdown, it stops! The match ends if a team with 10 gems manages to sustain that number until the countdown reaches 0.
• Brawl Ball: Brawl Stars meets football with this mode, where again there are two teams of 3 players. This time the goal is to bring the soccer ball and score in the opponent’s goal. Whichever team scores two goals first, or has the higher number of goals when the timer ends, wins the match!
• Heist: With the same two team, 3 player setup, each team is given a safe to protect on their side of the arena. The objective is to not only keep their own safe protected, but also to destroy the opponent’s safe - the first to destroy the other team’s safe wins! However, each safe also has a health percentage that is dependent on the power level of each Brawler on the team. So in the case that neither safe is destroyed, the winner is determined by whichever team has a higher health percentage on their safe.
• Bounty: The Bounty mode of Brawl Stars employs the same team setup but now, each player begins with a two-star bounty on their Brawler’s head. When a Brawler is defeated, the player who eliminated it gets an additional star and the defeated Brawler’s bounty is added to the opposing team’s score. Meanwhile, the defeated Brawler respawns after 3 seconds and restarts at 2 stars. Whoever has more stars when the timer runs out, wins! The secondary objective in Bounty mode is to obtain the Blue Star, as it serves as the tiebreaker in case both teams have equal stars at the end of the timer.
• Hot Zone: Yet another team mode on Brawl Stars where the objective is simply to capture the higher percentage of zones that appear on the map (there may be between 1 to 3 hot zones). Teams have 50 seconds to completely capture the zone, though this timer lessens the each succeeding zone (if there are multiple on one map). The first team to capture the zone - or has the higher capture percentage in case of multiple hot zones - wins!

Brawlers

Now that we know the different gaming modes on Brawl Stars, it’s time to take a look at your options for Brawlers. Of course, there are way too many individual Brawlers to go over one by one, but this section will highlight the basics about them. 

For example, at this point we know that Brawlers are the characters with which players can use to participate in a brawl. These are usually won through triggering certain events in the game like Boxes or the Brawl Pass. The Brawl Pass is an in-game system where tokens earned during Brawls progress along the Brawl Pass meter and give rewards at certain stages - including Brawlers. Lastly, players can also unlock new Brawlers at the Brawl Stars store, but this often costs real money!

Brawlers are additionally sorted by rarity: Common, Rare, Super Rare, Epic, Mythic, and Legendary. Players may immediately assume that the more rare a Brawler, the more powerful it is, right? Well, not always. Each Brawler has its own set of Attack and Super skills, gadgets, star powers, and traits in terms of health and damage capacity, and reload speed. In this way, some Brawlers are more well-suited for certain gaming modes than others, regardless of their rarity status.
